URGENT; ACT NOW: Members of the Iowa General Assembly are seeking to enact legislation protecting and restoring individuals’ property rights while pushing back against eminent domain.
House Study Bill 608 (HSB 608) was introduced by the House Judiciary Committee. If enacted, it would create a process allowing at least 21 state representatives or 11 state senators to block projects involving eminent domain, such as carbon-capture pipelines. Such blocks could only be overturned if three-fifths of both the House and Senate agree. In other words, HSB 608 would return power over eminent domain to elected officials, rather than the unelected Iowa Utilities Board — significantly protecting and restoring property rights in Iowa.
HSB 608 was introduced in response to three carbon capture pipelines that were proposed. One of the companies pushing these pipelines is working with Blackrock and its CEO Larry Fink, one of the most powerful groups/people worldwide that is pushing an extreme, “woke” agenda.
The carbon-capture pipelines are closely connected to the UN’s Agenda 2030 “sustainable development” scheme to eliminate private property and totally reshape society in the name of fighting “climate change.”
Under current Iowa law, these companies have the ability to use eminent domain to confiscate land from farmers and others in order to build the pipelines. This comes despite the fact that these pipelines are entirely private and will not directly benefit the public. Furthermore, some of the companies that would profit are foreign-based and have troubled histories.
Urge your state legislators to stand up for property rights, end eminent domain for private utility projects, and support HSB 608 and any similar legislation.
Although we provide a way to easily email legislators, we know from long experience that it takes a lot more interaction with your legislators to get your point across than that provided by emails alone.
That's why we provide an easy way not only to email them, but to contact them by phone, tweet, and even video message them.
