Sound Money Is Winning
In this presentation at the 2026 JBS Conference in Salt Lake City, JP Cortez, the executive director of the Sound Money Defense League, discusses his organization's efforts to restore sound money in the United States. After explaining the constitutionality, background, and importance of upholding sound money, he explains what states can do — and are already doing — to restore the legal status of sound money, such as eliminate taxes on gold and silver, hold reserve funds in gold and silver, enforce gold-clause contracts, and prohibit programmable money. He also warns against false solutions, particularly state-operated bullion depositories and "transactional gold" public-private partnerships. Finally, he highlights the Sound Money Index, reviews federal sound-money legislation, and encourages patriots to get involved in the effort to restore sound money.
