Defend the Guard: Ending America’s Unconstitutional Wars

Dan McKnight served 13 years in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve, U.S. Army, and Idaho Army National Guard. His service included a National Guard response-and-support mission during Hurricane Katrina and an 18-month deployment to Afghanistan’s Pech River Valley as part of Operation Enduring Freedom. In February 2019, Dan founded Bring Our Troops Home to pressure Washington, D.C., to end undeclared wars and restore Congress’ constitutionally enumerated power “to declare war.” He is the founder and chairman of both Bring Our Troops Home and Defend the Guard. Having lost friends in war and to veteran suicide — and having watched another generation enter a conflict that began before they were born — Dan remains committed to challenging the military-industrial complex.
