The topic of this video is: “The U.S., state, and local chambers of commerce: the good, the bad, and the ugly.”
Charlie Meadows, a conservative grassroots activist, explains how Oklahoma changed from a deep blue state to a bright red state in the last 20 years through the combined activities of the Oklahoma Chamber of Commerce and the grassroots activists. Now that this political transformation has been accomplished, the political goals of the Oklahoma Chamber along with other state chambers of commerce are being refined to favoring business only (including crony capitalism) and excluding the political goals of the conservative grassroots activists.
In an ugly turn of events, in 2014 the Oklahoma Chamber started working to replace conservative Republican state legislators with Chamber-compliant Republicans in an attempt to gain total Chamber control over the state legislature.
Charlie Meadows gave his talk September 30, 2014.
