Why it Matters
Members of the New York State Legislature are seeking to pass legislation that would deepen state involvement in the UN Human Rights Council and help make New York subservient to the UN system.
Assembly Bill A9068 (A9068) and Senate Bill S8517 (S8517) are sponsored respectively by Assemblyman Steven Raga (D-Queens) and Senator Jabari Brisport (D-Brooklyn). A9068 also have four co-sponsors in the Assembly.
The bills declare:
Participation in the United Nations. The state, through the department of state, shall participate in the United Nations human rights council’s universal periodic review when the federal government has disengaged from such review. The state shall continue to participate to the fullest extent possible until such time as the federal government reengages with such review.
The UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC) blatantly violates the U.S. Constitution and America’s founding principles — and there’s a good reason why the United States withdrew from it in 2025. For example, the UNHCR has advocated criminalizing speech, and has directly attacked U.S. sovereignty and local law enforcement. More broadly, the UN has attacked other rights, including parental rights and the right to keep and bear arms. Additionally, the UNHRC is dominated by dictatorships that have no respect for God-given rights.
Fundamentally, the UN’s definition of “rights” is incompatible with the Americanist definition. Under the U.S. Declaration of Independence, rights are God-given and cannot be granted or taken away by government. Under the UN, however, rights are solely created and defined by government. In fact, the UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights claims that “rights and freedoms may in no case be exercised contrary to the purposes and principles of the United Nations.”
From the start, the UN was a project of the Deep State to achieve a one-world government. This goal is becoming increasingly apparent as the UN’s tentacles increasingly strangle the sovereignty of the United States and other countries. Among other policies, the UN is pushing for extreme gun control, mass migration, totalitarian “climate change” measures, vaccine passports, indoctrinating children with leftist ideology, establishing a centralized global police force, and so much more.
Contact and urge your assemblyman and state senator to oppose A9068 and S8517. Encourage them to support legislation that protects state and national sovereignty.
