Members of the Delaware General Assembly are seeking to repeal the state’s law banning the barbaric and egregious practice of abortion. It is imperative that state legislators reject this bill and instead stand uncompromisingly for all preborn human life — without exceptions!
Senate Bill No. 5 (SB 5), has been introduced in the State Legislature. If enacted, it would create a “right” to abortion:
§ 22. Right to reproductive freedom.
(a) Every individual has a fundamental right to reproductive freedom, which entails the right to make and effectuate decisions about all matters relating to pregnancy, including prenatal care, childbirth, postpartum care, contraception, sterilization, abortion care, miscarriage management, and infertility care.
(b) An individual’s right to reproductive freedom shall not be denied, burdened, nor infringed upon.
(c) This State may regulate the provision of abortion care after fetal viability, provided that in no circumstance shall this State prohibit an abortion that, in the professional judgment of an attending health care professional, is medically indicated to protect the life or physical or mental health of the pregnant individual.
Any exceptions to protecting the lives of preborn children, such as for rape and incest, are completely unacceptable since all humans — regardless of the circumstances in which they were conceived — are made in the image of God, and their lives must be fully protected. Furthermore, in the Ten Commandments given by God to Moses, the LORD explicitly said, “Thou shalt not kill” (Exodus 20:13). And in Jeremiah 1:5, the LORD said to Jeremiah, “Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.” In this verse, we see God acknowledging personhood prior to birth.
Instead of enacting pro-abortion legislation such as SB 5, the General Assembly must stand uncompromisingly for life and reject any proposals to promote abortion. Urge your state representative to do just that and reject SB 5 and every other pro-abortion measure.
