Election Integrity: Save US From the SAVE ActBook this TopicIn this presentation, Kurt takes a strong stand against the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act, arguing that it poses a threat to true election integrity. In this session, he will highlight how the most effective election-reform laws in U.S. history have been achieved at the state level — and why that’s where real change happens.
Biography
Kurt Hyde holds a bachelor’s degree in physics and a master’s degree in systems management. He is also a retired lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Air Force Reserve.
As an adjunct instructor teaching computer science in 1985 and 1986, Kurt led his students in a study of a computerized voting booth and concluded that it needed a voter-verified paper trail in order to ensure that the computerized voting equipment did as the voters instructed. He introduced that concept on August 14,1986, at a symposium in Boston. This is the earliest known formal presentation for a voter-verified paper trail in electronic voting equipment.
Kurt has studied the history of elections in America, and he has recently completed a book entitled America’s Electoral Heritage. He has also written numerous articles for The New American dealing with all aspects of election integrity, from voter registration and casting ballots to the final counting and processing of election results.
