{"id":154553,"date":"2024-02-28T09:41:31","date_gmt":"2024-02-28T15:41:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/jbs.org\/?post_type=alert&#038;p=154553"},"modified":"2024-02-28T09:41:36","modified_gmt":"2024-02-28T15:41:36","slug":"veto-hb-1128-to-protect-children-in-virginia","status":"publish","type":"alert","link":"https:\/\/jbs.org\/alert\/veto-hb-1128-to-protect-children-in-virginia\/","title":{"rendered":"Veto HB 1128 to Protect Children in Virginia"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img  decoding=\"async\"  width=\"1069\"  height=\"701\"  src=\"https:\/\/jbs.org\/assets\/2024\/Protect-Parental-Rights_1069x701-1.jpg\"  alt=\"\"  class=\"wp-image-154608\"  srcset=\"https:\/\/jbs.org\/assets\/2024\/Protect-Parental-Rights_1069x701-1.jpg 1069w, https:\/\/jbs.org\/assets\/2024\/Protect-Parental-Rights_1069x701-1-768x504.jpg 768w, https:\/\/jbs.org\/assets\/2024\/Protect-Parental-Rights_1069x701-1-600x393.jpg 600w\"  sizes=\"(max-width: 1069px) 100vw, 1069px\" ><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><mark class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">URGENT; ACT NOW:<\/mark><\/strong> The Virginia General Assembly has passed legislation that would give a nongovernmental organization connected to \u201cwoke\u201d ideology accreditation authority over children\u2019s advocacy centers in Virginia. <strong><em>Urge Governor Glenn Youngkin to veto this bill!<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>House Bill No. 1128 (<a href=\"https:\/\/lis.virginia.gov\/cgi-bin\/legp604.exe?241+ful+HB1128ER\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">HB 1128<\/a>) unanimously passed the General Assembly, being sent to Governor Glenn Younkin\u2019s desk for his signature or veto. If enacted, it would give the National Children&#8217;s Alliance (NCA) accreditation authority over children\u2019s advocacy centers, which help children who have been abused and assist government agencies in investigating child abuse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This provision is problematic. First, a single NGO should not hold a government-imposed monopoly on accreditation. Second, the NCA has troubling connections to the woke LGBT agenda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For example, the NCA\u2019s CEO has written <a href=\"https:\/\/medium.com\/@thuizar\/how-you-can-help-stop-the-attack-on-trans-kids-in-texas-144d673ce0fc\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">articles<\/a> attacking states that oppose the extremist \u201ctrans\u201d agenda. Furthermore, the NCA <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalchildrensalliance.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/NCA-CAC-Style-Guide-2022_final.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">recommends<\/a> \u201ctreatments endorsed by\u201d the California Evidence-Based Clearinghouse for Child Welfare (CEBC) or the National Child Traumatic Stress Network (NCTSN). The NCTSN has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nctsn.org\/sites\/default\/files\/resources\/fact-sheet\/gender-affirming-care-is-trauma-informed-care.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">endorsed<\/a> \u201cgender-affirming care,\u201d while the State of California has enacted multiple radical medical- and LGBT-related bills in recent years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Please <a href=\"https:\/\/www.governor.virginia.gov\/communicating-with-the-governors-office\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">contact Governor Glenn Youngkin\u2019s office<\/a> and urge him to veto HB 1128. Instead, urge him to strongly advocate policies that protect children and align with the founding values of our
