Produced in 1969 during the height of the Vietnam War, The Great Pretense reveals the history of American aid and trade with Communist countries and how that aid has helped to keep Communism alive. Shown by members of The John Birch Society throughout the country, the filmstrip awoke many Americans to the folly of trying to fight communists in one place while helping them everywhere else.
The final segment of The Great Pretense reveals the American policies which helped to supply the Communist North Vietnamese during the Vietnam War. Combined with the news headlines of the day announcing American casualties, this filmstrip sent a powerful message to support America and our troops abroad by stopping aid and trade with all Communist countries.
Originally a filmstrip, The Great Pretense has been digitally re-mastered, color corrected, and audio-enhanced for VHS video.
