Members of the Wisconsin State Legislature are seeking to override the governor’s unconstitutional mask mandates.
On January 19, 2021, Governor Tony Evers signed both Executive Order #104 and Emergency Order #1. Executive Order # 104 declared a statewide state of emergency and public health emergency. Meanwhile, Emergency Order # 1 extended the state’s mask mandate through March 20, 2021. This came after other unconstitutional executive decrees, some of which the Wisconsin Supreme Court struck down.
In response, 27 members of the legislature introduced a resolution, Senate Joint Resolution 3, to override both Evers’s public health emergency order and his mask mandate. Not only this, but it repudiated the governor for every previous mask order he signed.
On February 4, 2021, the Legislature overrode Evers’s mask mandate. However, merely an hour after the override, Evers issued a new mandate. The Legislature must continue its efforts to hold Evers accountable for his illegal actions.
Since the COVID-19 pandemic began, officials at all levels of government have exceeded their constitutional limitations in a variety of areas and infringed on our God-given liberties. It is imperative that citizens push back, rein in these government entities, and ensure they cease to violate our constitutional liberties. Passing SJR 3 would be a good start.
Urge your state assemblyman and senator to continue the effort to override the governor’s unconstitutional mandates and skirting of the law. Additionally, urge them to defend our God-given rights from those who seek to violate them.
Although we provide a way to easily email legislators (blue box), we know from long experience that it takes a lot more interaction with your legislators to get your point across than that provided by emails alone.
That's why we provide an easy way not only to email them, but to contact them by phone, tweet, and even video message them.
