Solemnly Swearing To Uphold One’s Own Agenda
Tuesday, 11 November 2008 14:01

Why is it, then, that while everyone in government takes an oath to uphold the Constitution, very, very, very few do? It’s because their own perception and interpretation come into play, and because if they can get away with ignoring or blatantly abusing the limits set in the Constitution, they will.

One has to wonder what sort of mental reservations the office-entering candidates manage to conjure up as they place their hand on the Bible (if they are using a Bible) and swear an oath before God and everyone else to uphold and protect the Constitution of the United States of America. Or are they so bold and arrogant that they have already dismissed the sanctity and meaning of such an act?

So, looking ahead but not forward to a January inauguration of a new president who has not hidden his contempt for the Constitution, can we expect anything other than a continuation of the eroding of all limits written into the Constitution?

The posting of Napolitano’s article on Lew Rockwell had it creatively correct when they re-titled it,  “Do you solemnly swear to ignore the Constitution?”

With regard to those soon to take office, the likely answer will be "not really." Until the American people wise up and start electing dedicated Constitutionalists on a regular basis, and in conjunction with that reject the big government promises and platitudes that spew from both mainline Democrats and Republicans, we'll only ever get more of the same.
