ENVIRONMENTAL POLICE

New York City is getting tough on so called Eco crime. Every day officers dressed in green uniforms patrol the city to make sure no one is breaking environmental laws. Historically focused on hunting and fishing violations in Upstate New York, the force has been around since 1880. Now they moved to the city, where they patrol the streets armed with guns and handcuffs.

Words that come to mind: 1. Gestapo; 2. Fascism; 3. YIKES!

I am all for addressing gross violations against the health and well-being of the general public. However, as the video clearly demonstrates, creating a bureaucratic police force to address minor violations is beyond extreme! A regular police officer can ticket an exhaust violation, a littering violation, etc. Why then, is there a need and purpose for a fascist-like police force to play "Big Brother" and do nothing but scrutinize the life and liberty of individual private citizens? When will this insanity stop, when we create a bureaucratic police force dedicated to defeat public flatulence, with a uniformed gun and badge? And there are those who call me an "extremist" for opposing such idiocy, wasting our economic resources. How about utilizing the novel concept of using traditional law enforcement to enforce the long existing statutes designed to serve and protect the welfare of the general public? I know, I know, such a simple concept and far too easy for the government to completely screw up. Hence, "Eco Police". This is further proof that the majority of elected officials are grossly underestimated imbeciles. What amazes me is the fact that the elected bodies fail to see or comprehend their own moronicism.

Well, NYC has the police, the environmental police, the transit police, the port authority police, the parking enforcement police, and the animal police. Those are just the ones that immediately come to mind. There may be more. Probably are some special police at the UN. There are probably also county and state law enforcement of some kind with authority, too. Then the feds of umpteen flavors.

Didn't they issue citations with a smile at Tiananmen Square a few years back as well?

If these "Eco Cops" were in California, their patrol vehicles would be illegal! They are black! Definitely not an environmentally friendly vehicle... uses extra fuel to keep them cool.

(Hmmm... California outlawed black cars... isn't that RACIST?)
