Actor Kirk Cameron takes on the Darwinists PDF  | Print |  E-mail

Kirk Cameron and DarwinActor Kirk Cameron is finding himself at the center of a firestorm because of his beliefs. Since his conversion to Christianity from atheism 20 years ago, Cameron has become increasingly outspoken concerning his faith in recent years. Now, in this purported “Year of Darwin,” the 38-year-old actor has become active in countering the celebration of Darwinism. According to People.com:

"Atheism has been on the rise for years now, and the Bible of the atheists is The Origin of Species," Cameron tells PEOPLE. "We have a situation in our country where young people are entering college with a belief in God and exiting with that faith being stripped and shredded. What we want to do is have students make an informed, educated decision before they chuck their faith."

So what is the plan that Cameron, 38, has hatched to supposedly save the souls of freshmen around the country?

He and other creationists have created thousands of editions of Charles Darwin's landmark work explaining evolutionary theory, with a 50-page introduction that picks apart aspects of Darwin's work and try to link it to everything from Nazi eugenics to the scientist's alleged "disdain for women."

On Nov. 19, three days before the 150th anniversary of the original publication of Origin of Species, Cameron and other religious activists will distribute their books at "the top 50" universities around the country....

But never has he ruffled so many feathers, especially among academics, as he has this week, slamming evolutionary theory as untrue, inherently un-Christian and the driving force behind some of the most horrendous catastrophes of the 20th century, including Adolf Hitler's plan to destroy "inferior races."

"You can see where [Hitler] clearly takes Darwin's ideas to some of their logical conclusions and compares certain races of people to lower evolutionary life forms," Cameron says. "If you take Darwin's theory and extend it to its logical end, it can be used to justify all number of very horrendous things."

Quite predictably, People.com trotted out an evolutionist to claim that all of Cameron’s arguments had been “refuted,” which is, of course, nonsense. Margaret Sanger and Adolf Hitler may not be the prettiest “mugshots” in the family tree of Darwin’s intellectual children, but they are part of the family, nonetheless. Even one of the most prominent evolutionists of the 20th century, Stephen J. Gould once observed, “Biological arguments for racism may have been common before 1850, but they increased by orders of magnitude following the acceptance of evolutionary theory.”

The Darwinist inspiration associated with the horrific theories of eugenics — both in Europe and America — is well documented. What is humorous is seeing (a) how concerned Darwin’s fanboys are with denying the obvious: that pseudo-scientific racism owes its origin, in part, to Charles Darwin’s theory, and (b) how agitated a bunch of Ph.Ds get trying to answer an entertainer.

Celebrity activism is nothing new — but it usually doesn’t become subject to public vilification by members of the tenured, lab-coat crowd unless the celebrity is a conservative Christian who is taking shots at their religious beliefs. Darwinists don’t do very well when their ideology is subjected to honest criticism; thus its purveyors have worked a lot harder at shutting down criticism of Darwinism than they have at the unenviable task of trying to hold up its faltering arguments against legitimate criticism. Thus the response to anyone who even questions Darwinism is to violently attack the poor sap who asked the question. (As an aside: two particularly helpful rebuttals of Darwinism which were not written from an “Evangelical Christian” or “Creationist” perspective are David Stove’s Darwinian Fairytales and Michael Denton’s Evolution: A Theory in Crisis — both of which are regularly subjected to vitriolic squeals of the ad hominem variety from Darwin’s fanboys because these books pose questions which they have a profoundly difficult time answering.)

Cameron has prepared a video setting forth the reasons for his involvement in efforts to subject Darwinism to criticism. More information on the program which he is promoting (which is presently set to distribute 100,000 copies of Darwin’s The Origin of Species with a 50-page introduction which sets forth difficulties with Darwin’s theory) is available at LivingWaters.com. Watch for the fun on November 19 when Cameron and his fellow activists distribute their edition of Darwin’s book on campuses around the country: I suspect that in the midst of these ‘bastions of free speech,’ Christians are going to be threatened, harassed, and vilified for giving out free books; in many cases they will probably be thrown off campus. But for those who have eyes to see, and ears to hear — this, too, will provide a valuable education concerning the character and content of the Darwinist ideology.

Great!!!
I wish him/them nothing but the very best. I would also suggest, for anyone who is interested, taking a look at the Institute for Creation Research at www.icr.org. This organization is made up of accredited scientists who have been exposing the follies of evolution/Darwin for many years.

Cougar, I know what you mean but I like to focus on the topic of the article here- promoting Christianity. That's what JBS is doing. In fact, the current JBS President McManus is a Catholic and obviously a good Christian as he seems to not have judged Mr. Carmon.
