Schumer's Federal Biometric System For All Employees PDF  | Print |  E-mail

Chuck SchumerThe solution to the thriving practice of hiring illegal immigrants who portray themselves as legal within the government’s own E-verify system, so easily thwarted and corrupted through forgery, is being discussed at committee meetings by Congressmen. And their solution is biometric-based  — fingerprinting and iris scans — for ALL who are employed.

Immigration subcommittee chairman Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) is pushing for a “non-forgeable identification system,” as being “the only way to stop future waves of illegal immigration,” he said. Schumer plans on introducing legislation that would create a new path to legalization for the estimated 12 million illegals living in this country. And in this comprehensive “reform” bill Schumer sees that a nationwide verification system is the only method that will ensure peace of mind for employers and employees in ascertaining lawful and proper employment.

Schumer's plan is being suppored by a group called the Migration Policy Institute. At the July 21 immigration subcommittee meeting, the Migration Policy Institute’s representative, senior fellow James Ziglar, reiterated that the only way to stop fraud and abuse of E-verify is to move on to biometrics. Ziglar formerly served as commissioner of the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service.

The Migration Policy Institute describes itself as a non-partisan think tank “dedicated to the study of the movement of people worldwide.” But a glance at their website shows they are policy pushers and makers, representing a number of foreign countries and global elite foundations. Their list of supporters/funders is indeed impressive from that viewpoint: Carnegie Corporation, Chicago Council on Foreign Relations, Fannie Mae Corporation, Ford Foundation, Global Commission on International Migration, the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of several nations including Mexico, UN High Commissioner for Refugees, UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, Rockefeller Foundation, Open Society Institute, New Global Initiatives, Inc., are just a few.

These are the policy makers who are influencing Congress. Admittedly, they face an uphill battle. The American public still openly balks at having their rights violated, especially when it comes to fingerprinting and iris scanning. Then, too, there’s the problem of forcing employers to foot the bill and purchase expensive equipment, and having to do the record-keeping for the federal government.

With MPI’s blueprint in black and white, and the help of Republicans such as Sen. John Cornyn of Texas who has said: "We've got to get this right in order to have a crack at any reform program," this one might happen upon us sooner than we think.

Ignored in all of this are our very porous borders, and the fact that we still offer taxpayer funded schooling, healthcare, college tuition, and drivers’ licenses for this special class of people known as illegals. Shutting off the welfare spigot would go very far in terms of ending the waves of immigrants that the federal government silently welcomed in the past. The collapsing economy is said to already be influencing illegal immigration numbers.

Because there has seen so much opposition and resistance to the Real ID act at the state level, creating a biometric database for all Americans would seem to be the next logical step for an out of control and power centalizing government.

"He also forced everyone, small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on his right hand or on his forehead so that no one could buy or sell unless he had the mark, which is the name of the beast or the number of his name. This calls for wisdom. If anyone has insight, let him calculate the number of the beast, for it is man's number. His number is 666" (Rev. 13:16-18).
