Obama to Ration Health Care PDF  | Print |  E-mail

President ObamaIn mid-April President Obama was interviewed by a journalist on a number of topics, one being health care reform. The president has more than hinted that there will be rationing of health care under the heading of entitlement reform, particularly for the elderly, once the government takes over.

Economic journalist David Leonhardt of the New York Times sat down with the president and asked questions mostly pertaining to the current economic debacle. When the subject of health care came up, Leonhardt asked Obama how going to the doctor in the future will be different under his system. The president responded: “There’s going to be an asymmetry of information between patient and provider. And part of what I think government can do effectively is to be an honest broker in assessing and evaluating treatment options. And certainly that’s true when it comes to Medicare and Medicaid, where the taxpayers are footing the bill and we have an obligation to get those costs under control.”

While the government has never done anything “effectively” it didn’t stop the president from saying that they will use “comparative-effectiveness studies” to rein in costs; it won’t be micro-managing mind you, it’s just that there are “distortions in the system,” and they have to objectively choose treatments that “yield significant savings and significant benefits.”

Excerpts from the interview:

Pres. Obama: Now, I actually think that the tougher issue around medical care — it’s a related one — is what you do around things like end-of-life care... I mean, the chronically ill and those toward the end of their lives are accounting for potentially 80 percent of the total health care bill out here.

Leonhardt: So how do you — how do we deal with it?

Pres. Obama:
Well, I think that there is going to have to be a conversation that is guided by doctors, scientists, ethicists. And then there is going to have to be a very difficult democratic conversation that takes place. It is very difficult to imagine the country making those decisions just through the normal political channels.

So will “normal political channels” be abandoned in favor of something more extreme — and unconstitutional — in order to ram this down our throats?

From a March 24 news conference, Obama’s own projections show that deficits would go out to 2019 at least, but that “additional adjustments” would be interjected in future budgets. What are those mysterious “additional adjustments”? No one seem to know.

Charles Krauthammer, a syndicated columnist with the Washington Post, has charged that while the whole point of Medicare and Medicaid is to decrease costs, the only way Obama can do it is through rationing of health care. While his insistence that the best system would be a “highly competitive, privatized health insurance,” propped up by a “government-subsidized transition to portability, breaking the absurd and ruinous link between health insurance and employment” is absurd and faulty in itself, Krauthammer is more than willing to admit that the president is moving toward a universal health system that would see survivability criteria used for a rationing system.

Krauthammer:

Why do you think the stimulus package pours $1.1 billion into medical “comparative effectiveness research”? It is the perfect setup for rationing. Once you establish what is “best practice” for expensive operations, medical tests and aggressive therapies, you’ve laid the premise for funding some and denying others.

It is estimated that a third to a half of one’s lifetime health costs are consumed in the last six months of life. Accordingly, Britain’s National Health Service can deny treatments it deems not cost-effective -- and if you’re old and infirm, the cost-effectiveness of treating you plummets. In Canada, they ration by queuing. You can wait forever for so-called elective procedures like hip replacements.

Things don’t look so well for grandma and grandpa under Obama’s vision for universal health care, given that the new system the administration seems to desire amounts to a passive approach to euthanasia.

It is conceivable and even probable that given the present administration’s commitment to abortion on demand, the government option may be to earmark millions of dollars for covering baby killings, wiping out a younger generation, and an older one at the same time.

Do the American people know the truth about the bill of goods they are being slickly sold?

"Distortions" in the system
Yep, you bet there are distortions in the system, and 99% are in, or are caused by, Washington D.C. and its myrmidons. At this point it's very acceptable to murder unborn babies. Why should murder of the elderly or the "unfit" come as a surprise? It's merely the logical conclusion of a seriously sick, out-of-control, amoral system run by evil, satanic agencies.

So sad to read this. I don't understand how so many people can be duped into thinking health care should be managed by the government... haven't they been to the DMV??

It's like the End Od Days
I remember when David M Walker, the former head of the GAO said that Medicare would start going bankrupt in 2019, and Social Security would consume the entire budget by 2040. All because there would be too many baby-boomers retired & dependant on these programs and not enough people in the private sector to support them.

Is is me or is this arguably an introduction to population control according to the government's terms? I wonder if the people in this country could actually hear some of the conversations taking place behind some of the closed doors in Washington they'd be able to sleep at night.

And think about what we know of history... that over time, eventually where something like this could actually go.

Of Population Planners and Hebrew Midwives
Since they plan to regulate out those who "legally" provide care to some persons, a "black market" should arise. Can anyone truly have authority to prevent voluntary payment for legitimate services?

When Pharaoh (later Herod) tried to kill a certain class, God blessed the midwives who disobeyed the falsely asserted power. Time to learn the lesson.

While socialism is the means used to try to foist this upon us, the population planning agenda is the motive for doing so. (I recommend Dr. Stanley Monteith's old expose, available here: http://www.radioliberty.com/apop.htm .)

Obama is mentally and emotionally sick, humanly immoral. In essence, he is clearly stating that if you are too old to invest in due to a lack of profit in tax revenue or if your health is debilitating and you are too much of a risk to invest in, you should suffer and die.

Worse, Obama is sending medicine into an extremely regressive state. With government financed healthcare, devoid of the free-market system encouraging the necessity of invention and advancement, medical care will rapidly deteriorate.

The People should have NEVER allowed the federal government to get its foot into the proverbial door regarding medicine (Medicare/Medicaid). We will end up paying not only fiscally but with poor health as a nation. Watch the nation's mortality rate rise as the average length of life is quickly shortened by 25%-40%.

I sincerely hope, if his healthcare system is enacted, he quickly falls victim to his own agony.

Why do I feel as if I am the only one in the world that sees the bastard (the word "bastard" is indeed proper...read his autobiography) as Hitler incarnate? Fascism is fasism and Obama is indeed thoroughly a fascist by every definition of the word.

Obama may perceive himself as being the Anointed One or the Savior of America. But all we informed ones already know the script. And as the times become more difficult and deep despair sets in as loved ones begin to fade due to the lack of healthcare, Americans will begin to see behind the Hussein facade. The politically elite with their opulent lifestyles, big mansions, European vacations and the best healthcare available, it's only then that the cry for freedom will rise again. But this time they will rise to the heavens because it is only there that humanity can find true peace and justice. You see, heaven is where the truly Anointed One abides. And He will bring perfect justice to our decadent, lost and upside-down world.

Exercise your rights. When we don't do so, we lose them. The more we are passive in watching others lose their freedoms, the more we ourselves will lose. Health care is not an issue that should ever be up for review, or democratic discussion. What about "LIFE,LIBERTY,and the pursuit of HAPPINESS"? these are God given rights, not rations to be doled out by the government agencies to whom they see fit! They take our freedoms away on a daily basis now, most times by circumventing our political system through treaties and the like, and we just stand here and hang our heads. But don't speak up..... the DHS is watching and you don't want to prove them right about us being terrorists do you...? Stand up and demand that the constitution is the law of the land, when someone breaks their oath to the constitution, they are committing treason, it sounds drastic, but desperate times call for desperate measures. Regardless of political affiliation all criminals should be arrested and punished. I personally cannot believe we have let ouselves be beaten down this low, by our "elected officials". Its time to rethink our strategy in voting and actually pay attention to what our candidates stand for and WHO their affiliations are with. No more republican democrat credentials being enough, because honestly it appears they are all on the same team. You know, the one that wants to beat us down and take our rights. The only difference is the cover they use to do it. Dems use the "we just want to take care of you" act, and the repubs "gotta keep you safe and stop terror." C'mon people lets wake up. The American people are a sleeping giant, lets throw our weight around a little bit.

Be careful what Obama wishes for
Are not most members of CFR, Bilderberg, House, Senate, and Upper 1% getting long in the tooth? Depending on the policy could that not put them in a certain category. Maybe those people in the medical field who are being told, not asked, to overlook the Hypocritical Oath they swore could remember this the next time one of them needs medical treatment.
Just a thought!

When have you ever seen Obama be saving money so far in his Presidency. Oh yeah! he was going to cut wasteful spending and give open transparency. All of a sudden he want to save money in the healthcare issue. Another blatant attack on controlling our lives by controlling healthcare and the healthcare industry.
Want to see what other are saying about government healthcare, go to www.facesofgovernmenthealthcare.com and watch the videos from Canada.
