German Newspaper Publishes JBS Views Last September, reporter Kristof Berking from the Berlin-based Junge Freiheit ("Youth Freedom") newspaper crossed the Atlantic to attend the Ron Paul Rally for the Republic. After hearing the speech by John McManus and visiting with the many JBS members at the Society's extremely popular booth, he travelled to Appleton and met with members of our headquarters staff. To say that he was impressed with what he found is to understate his reaction. Returning to Germany, Mr. Berking then contacted John McManus by telephone for a lengthy interview. Excerpts from that interview have now been published in his newspaper and a portion is shown here. Entitled "Neder Obama Nor McCain" ("Neither Obama Nor McCain"), Mr. Berking accurately reflected many of the Society's views. He then informed us that he had shared the entire taped interview with another German publication where more of the Society's views will be seen by many in Germany. When he formed our Society 50 years ago, Robert Welch made clear his long-range intention to spread the principles of Americanism to other nations and other peoples. The Society does have a small number of friends in other lands. We are delighted to report that some obviously influential and freedom-loving Germans are now familiar with our message. |
