Congress, Vote NO on the Stimulus Package Today!

STIMULUS PACKAGE PASSES IN HOUSE 246-183 AND IN SENATE 60-38

UPDATE, 2/13/09, the Senate passed the Stimulus Package by a vote of 60-38 today. (Click here for the final vote results.) The bill now goes on to President Obama for his signature.

UPDATE, 2/13/09, the House passed the Stimulus Package by a vote of 246-183 this afternoon. (Click here for the final vote results.) The Senate is expected to vote this evening. A change of only one or two votes in the Senate could still enable opponents to filibuster and thereby prevent passage for a time.

Take Action Immediately! A vote on the Stimulus Package Conference Report is expected in both the House and the Senate today, Friday, February 13.

Fact: Over the years, Congress has voted for spending programs that now total up to an unfunded federal liability of over $56 trillion dollars. If you don't believe it, view the 30- minute version of the I.O.U.S.A. movie.

Fact: Last year our federal budget deficit was a record $455 billion.

Fact: As of January 7, 2009, the Congressional Budget Office forecast the federal budget deficit for 2009 would be $1.2 trillion (over 250% larger than the 2008 deficit). This deficit forecast did not include the Stimulus Package.

Fact: The stimulus conference report includes language that would increase the statutory ceiling on the national debt by $789 billion, to $12.104 trillion.

Fact: Based on the above financial realities, the $789 billion Stimulus Package conference report can only be paid for by borrowing the money or having it created out of thin air by the Federal Reserve. (Even the New York Times openly describes this creation of money out of thin air by the Federal Reserve as the key to our government's bailout plans.)

Fact: Realistically, the bulk of the money will be created out of thin air. This will devalue our dollar and lessen the buying power of our income from work, our retirement income, our investments, our savings, and our insurance.

Conclusion: It's high time for We the People to demand from Congress: (1) accountability; (2) fiscal responsibility, and (3) trimming government back to the size specified by the U.S. Constitution.

Tell your representative and senators to vote NO on the Stimulus Package conference report!

P.S. If you live in Pennsylvania or Maine, take special care to convince Senators Specter, Snowe, and Collins to vote NO. Their votes in support of the Stimulus Package enabled the Senate version of the bill to be passed without complications due to filibuster and would enable passage of this conference report also.
