VAT

I resent the assumption that if one supports a VAT he is probably a neo-conservative. Pat Buchanan supports a VAT and he is the furthest thing from a neo-conservative. The fact is, we have to do something, our manufacturing sector is hemorrhaging and moving overseas beceuse of cheap labor, our car companies are going out of businessness because the Europeans and the Japanese use a VAT and subsidies to give their car companies an unfair advantage over ours. Economically, our country is being raped and we have to do something aboutit. Give the revenue back to the states if we don't want the federal government to spend it, ever heard of General Revenue Sharing? The reason conseravtism is getting its collective tail kicked in politics is because it only opposes and almost never proposes how to fix things. - Keith Ressa

Border Tax Equity Act is better solution than VAT yoke

Pat,

Thanks. Tell legislators that the better alternative for leveling the playing field for honest US manufacturers (instead of yoking ourselves with a VAT) is to support the <a href="http://www.bordertaxequity.org/legislation/index.html">Border Tax Equity Act. - capo

Excellent analysis! I've saved the pdf for future reference, for economics homeschooling, and to inform legislators.

Guests, if you are not a JBS member, this kind of sound analysis is one reason to join! - Pat Henry
