Below are the details of the status of anti-NAU, repeal NAFTA, and anti-illegal immigration resolutions in Congress and state legislatures for 2007-2008. Anti-NAU, repeal NAFTA, and anti-illegal immigration resolutions introduced in Congress and state legislatures in 2007 and 2008: United States Congress, 2007/2008: Click here. - Congressional Switchboard – (202) 224-3121 - Re NAFTA: House Concurrent Resolution 22 - introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives by Virgil Goode of Virginia State Legislatures 2008: Alabama: SJR68 [Click here for Alabama Legislative Information]: "OPPOSING ANY EFFORT TO IMPLEMENT A TRINATIONAL POLITICAL GOVERNMENTAL ENTITY AMONG THE UNITED STATES, CANADA, AND MEXICO ... OPPOSING A NORTH AMERICAN UNION...." Sponsored by by Senators Glover, Erwin, Pittman, and Beason. The Senate PASSED SJR68 by a voice vote on April 10. The bill has now been sent to the House for its consideration. Arizona: HCM2003. Opposing a North American Union ("Urging the Congress of the United States to withdraw the United States from the Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America and any other bilateral or multilateral activity that seeks to create a North American Union"). Sponsors: BIGGS, BURGES, GROE, JOHNSON, ANDERSON, CRUMP, and HARPER. (status updates) HCM 2003 PASSED the Arizona House on March 18, 2008 by a vote of 37 to 22. The Senate PASSED its version of HCM2003 on May 12 by a vote of 18 to 8. The bill now goes back to the House for a final vote. On June 11 the House PASSED the Senate version of HCM2003 by a vote of 33 to 19 and sent the bill on to Gov. Napolitano. Idaho: SJM113. RE NAFTA: "This legislation is to urge and petition the Congress of the United States, and particularly the congressional delegation representing the State of Idaho, to use all their efforts to ensure certain conditions for continued NAFTA participation are met, and in the event of default of such conditions then withdraw to stop additional harm to the American economy and workforce, loss of sovereignty and border security." Floor Sponsor: Pearce. (Status) SJM113 PASSED in the Idaho Senate by a voice vote on March 20, and was sent to the House for consideration. SJM113 PASSED in the Idaho House by a voice vote on March 26. Thus, Idaho is the first state to ask Congress to withdraw from NAFTA if certain conditions are not met. SJM110. To Resolve the Illegal Immigration Crisis. Sponsors: Sen. Shirley McKague, Sen. Monty Pearce, Sen. Mel Richardson, Sen. Mike Jorgenson, Rep. JoAn Wood, Rep. Marv Hagedorn, Rep. Phil Hart. (Status) Florida: S670: "Urges the Congress of the United States to oppose any effort to implement a political, governmental entity among the United States, Canada, and Mexico, and to oppose the Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America and initiatives pursued in conjunction with the partnership which threaten the sovereignty of the United States and to oppose a North American Union, etc." Sponsor: Senator Lynn. (Status) Kansas: H.C.R. 5033. A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION urging the United States to withdraw from the Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America and the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) [This resolution provides extended coverage of reasons to oppose the NAFTA Superhighway]. Sponsor: Rep. Judy Morrison. Introduced in the House on March 5, 2008. (status updates) HCR5033 PASSED in the Kansas House by 93 to 28 on April 4, 2008. It was immediately passed on to the Senate for its consideration. Missouri: - House Concurrent Resolution 17. Urges Congress to use its efforts to withdraw the United States from the Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America which seeks to form a North American Union. Introduced on Jan. 30, 2008 by Sponsor Jim Guest. (status updates) There are 83 sponsors of this resolution, which constitutes a majority of the 163 members of the House. FINAL UPDATE: Although there were enough votes in the House to pass HCR17, the committee with jurisdiction over the resolution blocked any further action on it. Thus, the Missouri legislature closed its 2008 session on May 16 without a formal vote on HCR17 by the full House. - Senate Concurrent Resolution 32. Urges Congress to withdraw the United States from any further participation in the Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America and any other multilateral activity which seeks to advance the creation of North America Union. Introduced on February 20, 2008 by Senator Purgason. (status updates) New Hampshire: - HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION 12. A RESOLUTION urging the federal government to withdraw the United States from the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). SPONSORS: Rep. Winters, Rep. Soucy, Rep. Itse, Rep. Hinkle. (Status as of January 02, 2008: Current Committee is STATE-FEDERAL RELATIONS AND VETERANS AFFAIRS; due date out of committee is Thursday, February 21, 2008.) - HOUSE RESOLUTION 23.
